Ram 1500 vs Chevy Silverado 1500 in Del Rio

Comparing the 2019 Ram 1500 to its Chevy Competition

Texas drivers know pickup trucks, and they appreciate a high-quality, reliable model. Which is why we here at Ram Country are proud to present the 2019 version of the light-duty, Ram 1500. Legendary American engineering and rugged utility are evident in every inch of these incredible pickup trucks, which also come with a high-end, luxurious interior rarely found in this class.

At our Del Rio dealership, Mineral Wells, and Fort Stockton dealerships, local drivers can find a great assortment of Ram 1500 models to choose from, with dozens of great trucks available on our lot. This pickup truck is available in three cab styles, a number of impressive engines, and several bed lengths. Highly customizable, there's a Ram 1500 truck in our collection to suit even the pickiest drivers.

As great as we know the Ram 1500 is, we also understand that it may not be the only pickup truck vying for your attention. Which is why we've done our homework, and compared our Ram truck to one of its light-duty competitors, the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.

Both the Ram 1500 and the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 are undergoing major makeovers for 2019. If you're wondering how the 2019 Ram 1500 stands up to the competition, read on. We've looked at the major changes that are slated for both American trucks. When compared side by side, the Ram 1500 still comes out ahead of the Chevy in several key areas.

The 2019 Ram 1500 vs. the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

  • Suspension and ride quality. The Ram 1500 has long been known for the smooth ride and even quality it gives drivers. Regardless of whether the truck is empty or fully loaded with cargo, the Ram signature five-link spring coil suspension system delivers. The 2019 Ram 1500 continues this tradition and will still be built with the unique suspension, while the Chevy Silverado 1500 doesn't have a comparable suspension and the ride quality is noticeably less smooth.
  • Space and comfort. As mentioned, the Ram 1500 pampers both drivers and passengers with high-quality materials and a world-class interior that's on par with most luxury car brands. The Silverado 1500, on the other hand, is not designed with as many high-end touches, especially at its entry-level models, which are built for more for work and less for pleasure. Plus, depending on the configuration you choose, the Ram 1500 offers more space for you, and your passengers. For example, the crew cab style Ram 1500 offers several inches more headroom, legroom, and shoulder room for your backseat passengers than the Silverado 1500 crew cab.
  • Utility and Towing. The Ram 1500 also gives you more power for towing and utility than the Silverado 1500. While the Ram has a maximum towing capacity of nearly 12,000 pounds, the Chevy tops out at 11,000 pounds. Additionally, while the entry-level Ram 1500 trim level can be equipped with an optional Class IV hitch receiver, trailer brake control, electronic locking rear differential, and towing mirrors, the Chevy Silverado 1500 base model doesn't have that option. In fact, the trailering packages for the Chevrolet truck aren't available as options until drivers move up in trim levels and spend more money.
